Tennessee State Parks is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Trail Assessment Coordinator to join our team. As a Trail Assessment Coordinator, you will play a vital role in assessing the safety, accessibility, and quality of trails within our park system. This position requires the use of specialized equipment, including a HETAP (High-Efficiency Trail Assessment Process) machine and UTAP (Universal Trail Assessment Process) process, to assess and evaluate trail conditions. Key Responsibilities:
- Utilize a HETAP machine and UTAP process to conduct trail assessments and evaluate trail conditions.
- Perform detailed inspections of trails, including surface conditions, erosion, obstacles, signage, and overall trail integrity.
- Document and report trail assessment findings accurately and promptly.
- Collaborate with park management and maintenance teams to prioritize and address trail maintenance and repair needs.
- Assist in the development and implementation of trail maintenance plans.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and procedures during trail assessments.
- Maintain and calibrate equipment to ensure accurate and reliable trail assessments.
- Travel to various state parks within Tennessee to conduct trail assessments.
- Must possesses the capability to vertically elevate an object weighing 50 lbs. by a distance of 12 inches.
Requirements:
- Physical fitness and ability to walk long distances in rough terrain, often carrying equipment.
- Proficient computer skills, including data entry, report writing, and email communication.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently, managing time and priorities effectively.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately document findings.
- Knowledge of trail maintenance practices and principles is preferred but not required.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and equipment.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to different state parks within Tennessee.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
