Job Description Summary The Medical Laboratory Technician understands basic scientific principles and technical elements of laboratory testing and result interpretation, as well as technical, procedural, and problem-solving aspects of pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical processes. The MLT is capable of performing and interpreting waived, moderate, and high complexity testing, and possesses skills to perform routine phlebotomy for patients of all age groups. The MLT interprets quality control values; troubleshoots and resolves QC failures according to predetermined criteria; participates in additional quality assurance activities; operates and maintains laboratory instrumentation. The MLT recognizes procedural and technical problems, troubleshoots and takes corrective action according to predetermined criteria, and notifies Supervisor/Manager/Laboratory Medical Director as appropriate. Shift: M-F- two shifts: 0630-1530 and/or 0830-1730. (No holidays or weekends).
