Job title: Facilitator for a 11yearold neurodivergent boy in Birdhaven Johannesburg.
We are looking for a kind imaginative and patient individual with experience and knowledge of Autism and ADHD to support a bright 11yearold boy at school. He enjoys gaming listening to audiobooks while building Lego and has a passion for reading. The ideal candidate should have a calm temperament a nurturing yet firm approach and a genuine passion for working with neurodivergent children.
Main Purpose of the job:
To be a helping hand to an individual with unique and specific support needs giving him the necessary guidance and support to thrive. A special interest and passion to be a long term secure and consistent source of support is of the utmost importance.
The candidate will be trained by the NDC Facilitation Academy and receive personalised individual support from a registered counsellor for 4 6 weeks working in collaboration with the wider multidisciplinary team.
Job Objectives:
Build a trusting relationship with the learner.
Attending school with him to provide support and scaffolding within his immediate school environment.
Acting as a bridge of communication between the teacher learner and parents.
Assisting with breaking down tasks and chunking information as and when needed and implementing movement/sensory breaks throughout the day when needed.
Facilitate his understanding and academic learning in social structured and unstructured domains when needed.
Support his executive functioning around planning organising problemsolving asking for help etc.
Support and scaffolding to help lessen any uncertainties and possible anxiety that may be experienced. (Preempting any possible triggers)
Creating and designing visual resources if and when needed.
Liaising with his current multidisciplinary team and consistently implementing support structures given from the therapists and parents when needed.
General Requirements:
Fluent in English Essential.
Speak and write Afrikaans Essential.
Education Requirements:
Tertiary qualification in education psychology or occupational therapy Desirable.
Job Related work experience.
Previous experience in a schooling environment/facilitating role Desirable.
Previous experience working with neurodivergent children Essential.
Previous experience tutoring/teaching foundation phase Essential.
Job Related Knowledge:
Familiarity and knowledge of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) Essential.
Familiarity and knowledge of attentiondeficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) Essential.
Familiarity with a low arousal neuroaffirming approach Essential.

Working hours:
Monday: 07:30 14:00.
Tuesday Friday: 07:30 13:30.
Salary: R10 000 R15 000.
